My account is mmgc84@jabberes.org. I created this account using Pidgin on a linux machine, my email in jabberes.org is mmgc84 at gmail.com

The web and Jabber/XMPP accounts are not linked, so I can not check if you are the owner of the Jabber/XMPP account.

What we can do is:

  • Go to the delete account page. I suspect that it will be only in spanish, so I give you a quick translation (nombre de usuario -> username, Contraseña -> password, Borrar -> Delete)
  • You also can delete it with a Jabber/XMPP client. I think that Pidgin doesn't have that option, but others like Psi are able to delete the account from the server.
  • If those options are inconvenient, just answer to the message I have sent to your Jabber/XMPP account and I will delete it.

Also, don't forget to delete the website account (if you want to), as jabber/xmpp and web accounts aren't linked.

Sure, what is your jabber account? Did you set an email in the VCard of your Jabber account?

If you have another jabber account (e.g. a gmail account) you can also join the jabberes@conf.jabberes.org room and if not, you can also join via web.

If there are no admins there when you join, please, retry later.

Thank you for your quick reply! My account is jkg28@jabberes.org I created it using pidgin by selecting the "Create this new account on the server" option.

I will try the conf room too, although it doesn't look very active.

Hi, since the account doesn't have an email in the vcard (so I can be sure to contact the original owner of the account) and that it seems to have not been used for a long time and it only has a contact, I will delete it, so you can create it again.

Okay... Will I loose the contacts I had if I recreate the account? Also, I just tried recreating it and it seemed to work except now pidgin is not allowing me to enable the account. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you very, very much for your support!

That account only had 1

That account only had 1 contact. If you stored logs on pidgin you probably can see the jabber id of that contact. If not, I I stored the JabberID, just in case.

About pidgin, does it give an error or something?
Pidgin does have a Debug Window, and also an XMPP Console plugin that may give additional information about the issue.

Have you tried other clients like gajim or psi? Do they work properly? What about deleting and adding again the account to pidgin? (remember to backup the conversation logs if you want to keep them)
